Saturday, August 20th celebrates National Chocolate Pecan Pie Day. As opposed to regular Pecan Pie Day, which is July 12, next Saturday allows chocolate lovers to douse their desserts with the creamy, oozy, edible chocolate sauce. What else says “I love you,” better than the most popular flavor of all time? However, one can’t just choose any dessert to layer with chocolate. Rather, Pecan Pie is the ingredient we are highlighting this week. Flavor-worthy individuals, and that means you: lets come together to heighten and promote this luscious flavor; Chocolate Pecan Pie!

Did you know: both brown and white sugars can be used when making this fabulous Chocolate Pecan Pie? Also, molasses, corn syrup and honey can be used. Speaking of other ingredients, for those who like to add a little spice, bourbon, whiskey and rum can be added too.

While this recipe includes eggs, there is another recipe for a pie that doesn’t include eggs. Sugar Cream Pie was made when birds don’t lay eggs. As if one didn’t know, birds lay more eggs in spring and summer than fall and winter. As chickens rely on the sun to know when to lay eggs, they lay few to no eggs in the winter. See more here.
