Buckle up because we are cruising our way through summer! One more month until school, fall and the chill in the air begins. For those dying to get out of the heat, or into it, we’ve got a yummy flavorful snack waiting for you. Butterscotch Salted Caramel fudge!

The flavor we are promoting for the month of August is Butterscotch. What else spells delicious other than warm cream, brown sugar and vanilla? This delightful flavor is similar to toffee except the sugar is only boiled to a “soft crack” stage versus a “hard crack” stage.

Dissolving sugar into a mixture of water and milk at a certain temperature creates different stages. Generally speaking, thehigher the temperature, the harder the candy. For example, hard candy (like butterscotch or peppermint) is boiled at 320 degrees Fahrenheit. Whereas soft candy (like cotton candy or a marshmallow), is boiled at 270 degrees Fahrenheit.
